What’s On In Winter?

There are plenty of things to do in Cornwall over the winter months.
Most of the major tourist attractions open their doors in the winter too, from the Eden Project, with its domes and spectacularly lit in winter, to most National Trust properties hosting lots of Christmas events to help get you in the Christmas spirit.

Our beaches and coastal walks can be used all year round, and are great places to give your ‘well behaved’ dogs some winter freedom!

Why Not Spend Christmas or New Years Eve in Cornwall?

Have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year in Cornwall.
We are open over the Christmas and New Year holidays if you are looking to spend the festive season in Cornwall. Our luxury static caravans are centrally heated and double glazed, or you can book one of our fully serviced all weather pitches.

Our bar/restaurant is closed during the winter, but you can enjoy A Christmas Day lunch or New Year’s Eve dinner in one of the Duchy’s many fine pubs and restaurants. New Year’s Eve celebrations include fireworks at St Ives and Falmouth.

Why not experience a National Trust, Tudor Christmas at Trerice House, including green Santa! or visit Truro’s Victorian Christmas Market or go ice skating at Eden?

Many Cornish villages sparkle in the evenings with wonderful displays of Yule-tide colour including the world famous Christmas Lights at Mousehole, where the picturesque harbour is transformed each evening from the middle of December.

Murdoch House in Redruth hosts a regular Christmas craft fair on Saturdays throughout December and lanterns can be seen parading down to the harbour side in St Ives.

If you love Christmas carols, then Truro Cathedral is the place for you with its regular carol performances.

For the brave (or mad), Christmas Day and Boxing Day swims are a very popular tradition in Cornwall with organised festive swims often taking place nearby at St Agnes and Portreath, or further afield at Sennen or Poldhu Cove.

Leaping into Spring

Spring arrives early here in Cornwall, thanks to our mild climate. Glendurgan Gardens show the First Flowers of Spring from the middle of February, just in time for half term holidays. Eden’s ice rink can be used until the end of the month. Check out the National Trust (Cornwall) for lots of information on what’s happening January to March for Gardens and properties in the area.

Easter and Beyond

All our static caravans are available to book from Easter for a short break, or a week or more. Many nearby venues hold Easter Egg Hunts and other activities for all the family.

Most attractions open at this time of year, so there is plenty to choose from whether you want to ride the Hornet at Flambards, or browse the galleries in St Ives.

Our bar/restaurant opens for Easter, so you can enjoy a drink or a meal without having to travel. Our Information room has lots of leaflets for ideas on what to do, and please feel free to ask us for any advice. We’ll do our best to help!
